Namib Mills has defended its wage offer to striking employees. The company said the proposal remains available beyond the 31 January 2026 deadline. Industrial action at the company is ongoing.

Employees of Namib Mills remain on strike amid a dispute over a proposed wage increase. 

While reports claimed the company agreed to a 10% raise, workers have dismissed this as “fake news”, saying an internal memo reflects only a 5% increase.

Otjozondjupa leaders warn against consuming spoiled maize meal

Otjozondjupa Regional leaders have warned locals against consuming spoiled maize meal from bags that were recently disposed of at Otavi’s dumping site. 

These bags were discarded because they had become moldy due to rainwater leaking into the Namib Mills storage facility. 

No evidence yet that instant porridge caused deaths - Namib Mills

Namib Mills' Senior Brand Manager, Marné Bouwer, says there is no evidence so far linking Top Score Instant Porridge to the incident involving the deaths of three children in South Africa.

However, laboratory tests and investigations are in progress and will be communicated once they are finalised.
