Namibia's growing population is increasing the number of people entering the working-age population and, ultimately, the labour market.

While population growth can support economic expansion, it also puts pressure on the economy to create enough jobs for those seeking employment.

In order for any economy to thrive, strong leadership, strategic planning and a skilled workforce are essential. However, Namibia has seen a growing number of graduates struggling to find employment, particularly in the education and nursing sectors.

The Minister of Health and Social Services, Esperance Luvindao, addressed Parliament to motivate a budget of more than N$13 billion for the ministry for the 2026/2027 financial year.

The budget comprises an operational budget of over N$12 billion and a development budget of over N$489 million.
