Cradle of Hope hosts first Christmas lunch for children in Swakopmund

The Cradle of Hope Foundation hosted its first-ever Christmas lunch in Swakopmund's DRC informal settlement, where they fed more than 170 children.

The event highlighted the urgent need for stronger support systems for vulnerable girls and gender-based violence victims in the community.

Chaos at Tanidare Lutheran Church over alleged mismanagement and fraud

Chaos erupted at Tanidare Lutheran Parish Church in Soweto after a fraction of the congregation demanded that the church be shut down over alleged mismanagement and fraud. 

The concerned group disrupted the service, insisting that it be halted, and proceeded to occupy the altar.  

Retired Colonel Ashikudhike laid to rest at Omugulugwombashe Shrine

Liberation struggle stalwart, Retired Colonel Andreas Shitilitha Ashikudhike, was buried at the Omugulugwombashe Memorial Shrine.

The late Ashikudhike, who died aged 71, was conferred a military funeral by the Chief of the Defence Force, Air Marshal Martin Kambulu Pinehas.

China donates N$76.5 million in rice for drought relief

China has delivered its second batch of rice donations to the government, worth N$76.5 million, to support the 2024/25 drought relief programme.

The first batch of 27,200 bags of rice was delivered in February, earmarked for Oshikoto.

Katima Mulilo residents submit petition ahead of Naruseb court appearance

Community members of Katima Mulilo handed a petition to the Ministry of Justice ahead of 44-year-old Steven Naruseb's court appearance. 

Naruseb, accused of killing his wife, Rachel Simasiku, was eventually denied bail by Magistrate Davy Kambinda for his own protection due to the public outcry.
