Senior officers of NamPol's border and infrastructure protection directorate are gathered in Rundu to, among others, look at strategies to combat cross-border crime.

The police are seeking assistance in tracing the whereabouts of a missing Windhoek resident, Danny Chipandeka (31).

Chipandeka was last seen on Monday when a friend allegedly dropped him off at the Daan Viljoen Roadblock, where he said he was going to exercise.

Former Omaheke Police Commander, Commissioner Andreas Haingura, is now the head of police in the Kavango East Region.

He has replaced Commissioner Johanna Ngondo, who is now the advisor in the Office of the Inspector General. 

The police are pleading with motorists to exercise caution and abide by traffic rules and regulations during this long weekend and beyond. 

The Police Inspector General, Lieutenant General Joseph Shikongo, has called upon commanders in regions bordering with neighbouring countries to initiate joint efforts.

These include joint patrols and awareness-raising campaigns along the borders to curb the transnational trafficking of people.
