Nedbank Namibia launched the 2024 edition of the Nedbank Citi Dash, marking the fourth year of the exciting road running event on the Nedbank Sport calendar.

Youth Ministry investigates reported missing funds


Minister of Sport, Youth, and National Services, Agnes Tjongarero, says she is investigating reported financial mismanagement within the ministry.

Tjongarero was responding to a question by Landless People's Movement's (LPM) Utaara Mootu regarding the Executive Director's employment status without a contract.

Tjongarero said the results of the investigation will be made known once the established committee concludes its work.

She stated that consultations between her ministry and the Ministry of Finance and Public Enterprises are still ongoing.

Victorious weekend: Recap of the 9th edition in Oshakati


The 9th edition of the State-Owned Enterprises (SOE) games in Oshakati concluded with various teams showcasing their athletic skills and teamwork across different sports disciplines.

From Darts to Volleyball, Soccer, Netball, Tug of War, and Relay Races, the event brought together employees and executives from state-owned enterprises to compete and foster sportsmanship and camaraderie.

The week-long annual 9th edition of the State-Owned Enterprises Annual General Meeting which was held simultaneously with the SOE games in Oshakati, in the Oshana Region, ended yesterday.

A total of 57 SOEs were represented.

This year's Annual General Meeting for SOEs saw 57 Chief Executive Officers, along with their top executives, coming together to interact and learn from each other, as well as to deepen cooperation for the betterment of Namibia and its people.

Frank Fredericks Foundation Marks 25 Years of Empowering Athletes


The Frank Fredericks Foundation commemorated a significant milestone as it celebrated its 25th anniversary with a lively event on Sunday.

Trustees of the Foundation gathered to reflect on the journey that began in April 1999, highlighting the impactful support provided to athletes through scholarships and initiatives dedicated to uplifting the sporting community.

Namibia Assumes Chairmanship of MOU in Sport with Botswana


Namibia has officially taken over the rotating chairmanship of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in sport with Botswana for the next two years.

The handover ceremony took place in Gaborone, Botswana earlier this week, marking the beginning of Namibia's leadership in this cooperative agreement.

The MOU, signed in 2021, serves as a collaboration framework between the national sport commissions of Namibia and Botswana, focusing on sport development.



Nedbank Desert Dash, the epic mountain bike race that takes place in the Namib Desert. This year marks the 19th edition of the race, and it promises to be bigger and better than ever before. The race will be held on the 8th of December 2023 and has gained popularity not only among local cyclists but also among international competitors from around the world.

NYS recruits urged to embrace training


The Minister of Sport, Youth, and National Service, Agnes Tjongarero, has urged the new recruits of the National Youth Service at Henties Bay to embrace the training and gain skills to become self-dependent and thus contribute to the socio-economic development of the country.

More than 5,500 applications were received for this year's intake from all 121 constituencies.

This is the first time that the NYS Henties Bay Centre is open for activities since its closure in 2017, when the National Service Training moved to Rietfontein.
