The top ten Miss Namibia finalists visited the National Housing Enterprise (NHE) headquarters in Windhoek as part of their official corporate sponsor engagement tour.

Minister of Urban and Rural Development James Sankwasa described local authorities as the “biggest headache” facing his ministry, citing widespread financial mismanagement, weak governance, and inequitable land allocation as major obstacles.

An allocation of over N$1.5 billion has been made from sources outside the State Revenue Fund for the construction of houses under the National Housing Enterprise (NHE).

The aim of this additional funding is to accelerate the delivery of affordable housing and address the housing backlog.

NHE met with the Miss Namibia Organisation to deliberate on the location of her choice.

They were speaking at the Policy Advocacy Workshop on Affordable Housing for Domestic Workers in Namibia held in Windhoek today. 

The National Housing Enterprise (NHE) continues to make strides in making home ownership a reality for the less privileged members of the society.

The town of Ondangwa is the latest where NHE has delivered 64 houses constructed for N$20 million.

By December 2027, the National Housing Enterprise (NHE) plans to complete the construction of 546 housing units at Katima Mulilo.

The project is expected to address the housing backlog while providing affordable housing. 

The National Housing Enterprise (NHE) built 516 houses in the 2023/2024 financial year, facilitating homeownership for middle- to low-income earners.

The demand for affordable housing remains high, with many families still relying on rentals or living in informal settlements lacking basic services.
