The Government Institutions Pension Fund, GIPF, launched an Ethics Helpdesk and Website aimed at supporting, protecting and safeguarding whistleblowers. Through this platform, the GIPF created a will a toll-free line for those who want to blow the whistle on unethical misconduct within the pension fund. It will have a web-based application which will allow safe and anonymous reporting either by filling in a form, speaking to a robot, speaking to an agent, or sending a message via WhatsApp or Telegram. The helpdesk is managed by an independent agent and is not linked to the GIPF system and no track record is kept on the IP or cellphone number of those reporting. Feedback will be given to those reporting within 45 days and whistleblowers can also make a follow-up on cases they have reported before on the helpdesk. The helpdesk and website will also be used by GIPF employees as a platform to declare their interests and the gifts that they will receive at work.
