Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare yesterday launched the National Youth Service (NYS) Charcoal Production Youth Project at Rietfontein in the Otjozondjupa Region.
Speaking at the launch, Dr. Ngurare said Namibia is endowed with abundant natural resources, among them biomass, and it is through such resources that Namibia, via the NYS, created the much-needed youth employment programme.
“Against this backdrop, the government took a deliberate move to avail financial resources for the Youth Self-Employment Project in charcoal and biomass production,” he said.
About 630 youth, selected from all 14 regions of the Republic of Namibia, have undergone and completed the programme.
The youth development initiative aims to equip young people with skills and opportunities in the charcoal and biomass production sector.
