It was a bustling day for seven-seater drivers operating from B1 City, which was alive with travelers heading to various destinations to enjoy the long weekend with friends and family.

Santos Mweshinyona, representing seven-seater operators, emphasized the importance of adhering to traffic rules during this busy time.

"Our top priority is the safety of our passengers and ourselves," he stated. "During long weekends, the roads are always congested, so we must stay vigilant. As drivers, we need to buckle up, and I ensure that all my customers do the same. Loading safely is essential. Safe driving is the best way to protect our lives. The roads are very busy now; there’s no need for speeding. Regardless of your speed, you will reach your destination. It’s crucial to follow traffic laws and obey the rules."

Recently, Minister of Works and Transport Veikko Nekundi announced that seven-seaters are eligible for permits to operate as long-distance travel services.

Mweshinyona expressed satisfaction with the minister's decision, as this opportunity serves as a primary source of income amidst a scarcity of jobs.

He noted that while there has been a slight increase in the number of seven-seater operators since the announcement, business remains steady.

"The minister's decision is very welcome. The increase in operators isn't an issue, as job opportunities are limited compared to the past, and the population is growing. We must do our best. Whether you started a long time ago, today, or plan to start tomorrow, it doesn't matter. All we want is to make a living. We have no problem with the rise in seven-seaters as long as we prioritize safety; that’s the best way to maintain our reputation, especially with the minister’s approval."
