African Vocals, a male a cappella group from Swakopmund, is gearing up for exposure through a two-month tour in Germany.

Ensembled in 2012 from the streets of Mondesa, Swakopmund, African Vocals is a 16-member a cappella male group.

It is made up of diverse Namibians, representing all the ethnicities.

Before 2012, these young men used to sing in high school choirs, but that was over when they completed school.

They ended up singing in churches and youth choirs, and they eventually realised that they could form their own men's chorus.

The group usually doesn't receive local support; however, their manager voluntarily mobilises assistance, allowing the members to prepare for a two-month tour to Germany.

The group leader said the tour is an opportunity to market the group and the various cultures found in Namibia.

One of the challenges faced by the ensemble is a lack of financial support for becoming a household name in Namibia.

They have encouraged fellow young men to work hard in turning their talents into careers.
