World Oceans Day is observed annually on June 8. This year, Swakopmund hosted an event themed “Sustaining what sustains us,” which emphasized the importance of protecting and preserving marine life for future generations.

The event was organized by the Centre for Marine Environmental Education & Sustainability, in collaboration with the Namibia Nature Foundation and Ocean Conservation Namibia.

It gathered students, local vendors, and community members to raise awareness about ocean conservation and to highlight the role everyone can play in safeguarding marine resources.
