The Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) has deployed 18 teams, comprising 94 election officials, in preparation for the Kamanjab Constituency by-election.

The by-election in Kamanjab was prompted by the resignation of former UDF councillor Nico Somaeb following his election to the National Assembly.

ECN's Deputy Director of Corporate Communications and Marketing, De Wet Siluka, encouraged all registered voters across the five constituencies, Sesfontein, Otjiwarongo, Grootfontein, Kamanjab, and Kabbe South, to exercise their democratic right.

The deployment of teams already started on Sunday.

"Those are what you see in the boxes, as you can see the security on them. We have sealed them after they have received their tablets for voter verification; then only they will be receiving the sensitive material, which are now the ballot papers kept under strict surveillance, and then they are locked in the same under the supervision of the police force," said ECN Spokesperson De Wet Siluka.

The Supervisor for Registration in the Constituency, Kizzy Dudu-Murorua, assured the nation that the 18 teams are well equipped and ready to serve the public.
