The Namibian government has reaffirmed its commitment to the green industrialisation agenda to fuel economic drive, including the development of green hydrogen.

The affirmation was provided by the Director-General of the National Planning Commission, Kaire Mbuende, following a courtesy meeting with the management of CMB.Tech, led by Chief Executive Officer Alexander Saverys at State House.

Dr. Mbuende said that the development of green energy is aimed at the transformation of the society given the sector's potential to spur economic growth and create jobs.

He, however, acknowledged that the government is still in the process of necessary policies and regulations concurrently with the development of human resources.

The Belgium-based CMB.Tech owns and operates more than 200 ships, including container vessels, crew tankers, and offshore wind supply vessels, among others, across the world. It is in the process of decarbonising its fleet.

CMB.Tech, in partnership with the Ohlthaver & List Group, operates a green hydrogen facility in Namibia's Erongo Region.
