President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has called for the continued strengthening of bilateral ties between Namibia and India, as she received that country's High Commissioner, Rahul Shrivastava, at State House for a courtesy visit.

India and Namibia share cordial relations, rooted in India’s early support for Namibia’s liberation struggle as one of the first countries to raise the issue of Namibian independence at the United Nations in 1946 and hosting the first SWAPO embassy abroad in 1986.

The two countries cooperate closely across multiple sectors, including trade, education, defence, health, mining, agriculture, and energy.

Bilateral trade includes Indian exports of petroleum products, pharmaceuticals, and machinery, while Namibia exports uranium, diamonds, and minerals to India.
