In a meeting between the Minister of Urban and Rural Development, James Sankwasa, the Daure Daman Traditional Authority, and a concerned group, it was resolved that the nomination of Chief Sagarias Seibeb was procedurally incomplete.

Minister Sankwasa convened a meeting in the first week of June, revealing the subsequent findings and resolutions.

The first resolution stated that the Dauredaman chieftainship is founded on an electoral process rather than on nomination or inheritance through a royal house bloodline.

While the late Chief Elias Taniseb did nominate Chief Seibeb as a potential successor, the resolution stated that the nomination was not binding.

The resolution further indicated that the nomination must be submitted for the community's approval, and in this case, that essential step was not followed.

Because of that, the nomination of Chief Seibeb is considered procedurally incomplete.

The meeting in Windhoek further resolved that the current designation of the chief was not conducted in accordance with the proper customary process.

It is recommended that the traditional and elders councils revisit the matter and implement the designation process in full compliance with the Dauredaman customary law, ensuring transparency, legitimacy and community consensus.

The meeting further directed Chief Seibeb to submit comprehensive financial statements covering the period from 2021 to date.

The directive is a response to the findings that revealed instances of financial mismanagement, which the concerned group has raised over the years.

The group made demands dating back to 2017 to remove Chief Sagaria Seibeb of the Daure Daman, and in return, protested, boycotted festivals and locked the offices, resulting in some arrests.
