The Deputy Minister of International Relations and Trade, Jenelly Matundu, stated that the government should first focus on a complete re-engineering process before moving to the next step of transferring PSEMAS members to state health facilities. Matundu urged the ministry to do a final comprehensive assessment on state facilities and to ensure that all the challenges that have been identified are addressed before the transition.
"I am expecting to see improved smooth operations at all our state health facilities with no special preferences given to certain patients by making sure that the long waiting in queues has been drastically reduced. Because the government's aim is to fix the public health system so that all Namibian people, irrespective of socioeconomic status, can enjoy the same quality of health services. The current status quo says that as of the first of April, the first phase of the target group would be shifting to the state health facilities as a politician who is wishing for the successful implementation of a vision for April 2026. I don't see myself continuing to pay PSEMAS because we have been advocating for equal health services for all, and it has arrived."
