Erongo Governor Natalia |Goagoses said she will not struggle to further develop the region because her predecessor, Neville Andre, levelled the playing field.
The business community, police, local authority, and Erongo Regional Council bid farewell to former governor Neville Andre at Walvis Bay.
Neville Andre, in his speech, expressed gratitude to his family, the Swapo Party, political leaders, the business sector, and churches, among others.
He commended his family for supporting him, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic when the region was under lockdown.
Being a Christian, Andre said his religious conviction was the reason he was elevated from a mere personal assistant to the governor of the Erongo Region, an economic hub of the country.
Andre said the various support received, especially from the central government, ensured the construction of infrastructure, revival of the tourism sector, rural development, investment opportunities, and the creation of new industries.
Welcoming the new governor, Andre said he is fond of |Goagoses, whom he calls "ouma" in Afrikaans, translated as "grandmother" in English.
The new governor commended Andre and informed Erongo residents that she will work hard to ensure they all enjoy excellence.
Andre urged the new governor to focus on job creation and value addition to natural resources.
