The Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety, and Security was named the overall winner at the Namibia Institute of Public Administration and Management (NIPAM)'s inaugural Public Service Awards, a first-of-its-kind ceremony held in Windhoek to honour excellence across the country’s public sector.

The Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) was also among the top achievers, scooping a Silver Award in the Public Sector Enterprise category for its commitment to innovation and public service delivery.

The awards, which fall under the 2024/2025 cycle, recognised outstanding performance across regional councils, local authorities, public enterprises, and government ministries, with honours handed out in the bronze, silver, and gold categories.
In the local authorities category, Ondangwa Town Council secured Bronze, Oshakati Town Council took Silver, and Ongwediva Town Council claimed Gold. Among regional councils, Oshana earned Bronze, |Khomas took Silver, and Ohangwena was awarded Gold.
In the public sector enterprise division, the Roads Authority received Bronze, NBC secured Silver, and the Namibia Institute of Pathology walked away with Gold.
The Organisational Ministry and Agency Services (OMAS) category saw the Ministry of Urban and Rural Development take Bronze, the Ministry of Agriculture, Water, Fisheries, and Land Reform earn Silver, and the Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety, and Security clinch Gold, ultimately taking the title of Overall Winner for its demonstrated excellence and dedication.
With plans to institutionalise the awards as an annual tradition, NIPAM says the initiative aims to reinforce the values of professionalism, responsiveness, and innovation across Namibia’s public service landscape.
