Workers at Etosha Fishing took to the streets of Walvis Bay demanding sustainable fishing quotas from the government.
The employees argue that the current horse mackerel quotas for the company are not enough to keep them employed for the whole year.
The workers delivered their petition to the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Land Reform.
Workers pleaded with the ministry to consider attending to their plight to have decent, sustainable jobs, while temporary workers say the N$1,500 they get paid per month is not sufficient to meet their daily needs.
Some of them say they have been at home for over three months, hoping to receive a call to report for duty.
The Acting Deputy Director of Technical Services in the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Land Reform, Ruben Mundilo, received the petition on behalf of the Ministry.
