The First Gentleman has expressed concern over the increasing number of male suicides.
Epaphras Ndaitwah says Namibia is losing productive citizens due to suicide and gender-based violence.
He made these remarks while addressing learners at Oshela Senior Secondary School in Okongo, Ohangwena Region, where he was a former learner.
"We have learnt with shock about the death of teachers, it is shocking. Imagine a teacher killing himself. He was supposed to teach tomorrow, which is shocking. He would give lessons today, but deep down, he knows that he planned to commit suicide. Only for the kids to be told at school tomorrow that your teacher is not coming to school, he committed suicide. They will be shocked. And the problem with us men is that we are the ones who commit murders, and at the same time we are also busy committing suicide/taking our own lives."
