The Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Emma Theofelus, has commended former Executive Director Audrin Mathe for his contribution to the work of the ministry.

The ministry's staff bid farewell to Dr. Mathe, who has been reassigned to the Ministry of Justice and Labour Relations.

Dr. Mathe was described as an impactful leader who always pushes for better results in every aspect and as an individual who understood the mandate of the sector.

He championed capacity building and effective communications and was results-driven.

"As a minister of ICT, I believe that once we learn something, we should adhere to it and not change our approach due to changes in the weather, shifts in leadership, or relocation of offices. We stick to that work ethic and those principles because they are the ones that got us here. So thank you very much, Comrade Audrin, for your leadership. Thank you for your steadfastness. Thank you for keeping everybody on their toes when we have our weekly meetings."

In response, Dr. Mathe said, "Once success is visible, then it begins to ripple into the condition. I suspect that's what has happened. So begin that way, build a new journey, and build a new culture, because employees are supposed to be valued. Most of the time, we don't always need money. We just need to be recognised and valued for what we do. And you do that really by doing smaller things. I'm very, very big on building capacity for people, to make you believe that you can actually do it."

Speaking on behalf of the NBC Director General Stanley Similo, Chief Human Resources Officer Vezenga Kauraisa stated that Dr. Mathe has been an outstanding figure for the corporation.

"We witnessed progressive policy support that helps drive critical transitions, including the plans for the shift from digital terrestrial TV (DTT) to direct-to-home (DTH) broadcasting, as well as our expansion into the new high-definition platforms. His ability to bridge policy and practice made a significant difference in how we deliver on our universal access obligations. We take this opportunity to also express our sincere gratitude to you, Honourable Minister, and the entire Ministry of ICT, for the unwavering support and collaboration extended to NBC over the years. Your leadership and commitment to the role of public broadcasting in national development have been instrumental in the progress we have achieved."
