President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah says the tragic death of 14 people has left a void that will not be easily filled and extended condolences to the families.

Eleven members of the Namibian Correctional Service, a police officer, and two civilians died in a head-on collision north of Mariental earlier today. 

In a statement, President Nandi-Ndaitwah said, “These officers, together with the civilians, were part of our Namibian family,” adding that the nation grieves alongside the families of the victims. 

The President hailed the dedication and service of the victims to the country as one that will “forever be remembered with respect and gratitude.”

She extended well-wishes to the three critically injured officers in the hospital.
