Minister of Works and Transport Veikko Nekundi has appointed a Board of Directors to serve at the Roads Authority for the next six months.
Nekundi said the board members were appointed based on their portfolios and expressed confidence in their ability to drive positive change, be innovative, and contribute to national development.
Martin Kambulu will serve as the board's chairperson, with Dr. Selma Karuaike as the deputy chairperson.
Other members are Reinhard Bohmer, Getrude Xawes, Werner Ngashikuoa, Chimbelambela Hengari, and Hamutenya Hamutenya.
Nekundi urged the board to uphold governance, combat corruption, drive performance, and ensure transparency.
He added that he does not expect delays in road infrastructure projects, as such delays can have a negative financial impact, amounting to hundreds of millions of dollars.
The minister also cautioned that any board member who fails to fulfil their responsibilities will face dismissal..
Nekundi reaffirmed the government's commitment to support the Road Authority's role in the country and in improving corporate government practices.
