President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has emphasised the need for the international community to undertake a deeper reflection on the developments and challenges of the past 80 years of the United Nations General Assembly and assess its current role in addressing global issues.
Speaking before her departure to attend the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, President Nandi-Ndaitwah reiterated Namibia's firm stance on multilateralism, underlining the importance of collective dialogue and joint action in addressing global peace, security, stability and development goals.
She warned that allowing individual member states to independently address challenges and take decisions is dangerous, as it undermines the effectiveness of multilateral cooperation.
Nandi-Ndaitwah called for deeper reflection on the state of world peace, noting that it is currently under threat due to geopolitics, tensions and ongoing conflicts.
