Swapo Party President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has appealed to voters in Katutura to go out and cast their ballots and extend the party's mandate in the upcoming Regional Councils and Local Authorities Elections.

The party's candidates joined Nandi-Ndaitwah as she outlined key commitments from the Swapo Party manifesto during a meet-and-greet campaign at several locations across Katutura.

The President began her appeal at the Multi-Purpose Youth centre, continuing to Ovambo Stop, Malaka Draai, the Single Quarters and Goreangab. At each stop, she reminded supporters that the party, under her leadership, would not relent in implementing its manifesto.

She noted that the provision of free education, housing programmes, and various youth empowerment initiatives is already underway, urging supporters to remain patient until they are fully realised.

Nandi-Ndaitwah added that a Swapo victory in the upcoming elections would be crucial for driving implementation at both national and local levels.

"For the whole 8th administration to function properly, we now have the responsibility to elect our regional councils and local authority councillors, making use of all our democratic institutions. And I have already started when I promised quality service delivery, and when I promised to concentrate on the young people. Let me thank my elders that you have agreed and accepting my plea when I said, 'For this financial year, please bear with me not to increase your pension to allow me to pay attention to our young people.' The 71 people and I have started through all our programmes."

Following the 2020 elections, the Swapo Party retained control of seven out of the ten constituencies in the |Khomas Regional Council, after losing three constituencies.

However, in the Windhoek Local Authority, the party lost 8 seats in the 15-member city council.

President Nandi-Ndaitwah, therefore, urged voters to help the party reclaim the lost gains.

"The same way you have given me the responsibility, give me the right people to work with. It is only then that you can hold me accountable, and the right people are the Swapo candidates who know the Swapo principles and who believe in the Swapo manifesto. Together with them come five years. I am confident I am going to answer you positively; I will not fail you."

During the meet-and-greet sessions, the Swapo Party leadership continued to reinforce its message of unity, accountability and renewed service delivery ahead of the elections.

As the campaign intensifies, Swapo leaders say they are counting on the Katutura vote to strengthen the party's influence across |Khomas.
