To help law enforcement combat crime more efficiently in the |Khomas Region, the regional council donated three prefabricated administration offices to Klein Windhoek Police Station, valued at N$400,000.
Over the past five years, the |Khomas Regional Council has dedicated resources to refurbishing police cells at various stations, installing CCTV monitoring systems across the city, and erecting high-mast lights to reduce crime.
The council also repaired police vehicles at a cost of N$1.5 million, enhancing mobility and readiness.
The Minister of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety, and Security, Lucia Iipumbu, emphasised that no one is immune from crime, making community policing a shared responsibility.
"I know in our communities, we have this fear of the unknown. We never want to disclose the information to the law enforcement officers. We often point fingers at specific houses, especially when it comes to drug-related issues. But nobody is prepared to identify the culprits, please. Let's put our hands together just like we have done today to see that we report all various types of crimes."
|Khomas Governor Sam Nujoma applauded the police for the level of safety they have ensured for citizens.
He noted that law enforcement was focused on improving capacity, including through CCTV monitoring systems.
"Infrastructure is a tool of empowerment to both our men and women in uniform and to the community they serve. Safety and security are the foundations upon which communities, security, and development are built upon and confidence in institutions is built by prioritising safety. The |Khomas Regional Council has laid the groundwork for inclusive growth and social cohesion."
