The Presidency says President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah's nomination by the African Leadership Organisation reflects the high regard for her leadership, integrity, and contribution to good governance.
Nandi-Ndaitwah has been nominated in the African Political Leader of the Year category, alongside Botswana's President Duma Boko, President José Neves of Cabo Verde, and President Patrice Talon of Benin.
In a statement, the Presidency said the nomination follows a broad and engaged response from readers, stakeholders, and followers across the continent who participated in the public call for submissions.
Past honourees include Mo Ibrahim, Atiku Abubakar, Jakaya Kikwete, Goodluck Jonathan, John Magufuli, Lazarus Chakwera, Julius Maada Bio, Dr Akinwumi Adesina, and Dr Tedros Ghebreyesus.
Voting is open until 1 December 2025 via the African Leadership Magazine website.
