The Zambezi Education Directorate says it is ready to receive learners, with all logistics in place, including over 100 teacher posts filled and stationery and textbooks procured.

Last year, the directorate decentralised the budget to schools, allocating over N$6.5 million for stationery and N$3 million for textbooks.

Education Director Alex Sikume stated, “All learners who made applications have been placed, with very few on the waiting list that we can accommodate by next week. Our end-of-year report indicated that all schools managed to procure stationery for 2026.”

To handle increased enrolment following last year’s improved Grade 11 pass rate, the Advanced Subsidiary level was extended to two schools: Mafwila Secondary School and Ndoro Memorial Combined School. Sikume encouraged parents to enrol learners when the results are released on Tuesday.

The only minor challenge is a furniture shortage for learners and teachers, though deliveries are expected this month.

Sikume cautioned about delays in procuring for the school feeding programme but assured readiness by the end of January: “We apologise to parents for the delays, but schools will be ready to offer feeding by then.”
