The Tourism Supporting Conservation (TOSCO) has developed a new model for tourism to contribute to climate resilience through the ReGen Namibia programme.
The organisation launched the framework on Wednesday.
The holistic regenerative approach to climate adaptation integrates environmental, economic, and social elements into projects that local communities can own and sustain.
The ReGen model will be co-developed with tourism companies that share TOSCO's vision for developing local climate resilience through regenerative tourism.
The process is gradual and adaptive, with each of the three phases building on the lessons learned from the previous one.
The phases include testing solutions and developing credits, creating value chains and expanding contributors, as well as scaling up.
Regenerative methods are sustainable practices that restore soil, water and ecosystems by working with nature to rebuild biodiversity, improve land health and capture carbon.
Ways to get involved include being a pioneer, purchasing power by buying goods and services from climate resilience projects, contributions and donations and resilience credits.
