The Mururani Community in the Kavango West Region is ready to host the joint celebrations of World Radio Day and International Safer Internet Day.

The Deputy Director of Media Liaison Services at MICT, Elizabeth Amagola, said there will be a little something for everyone who makes it to the event.

Amagola said it's about bringing vital information closer to the rural areas.

"Apart from the entertainment that we will give them, they should also expect messages from our minister of ICT and also from our regional leadership, so they must come in numbers.  We will not only talk about the importance of radio, but we will also talk about the importance of being safe on our digital platforms now that we are talking about Internet Safety Day."

The programme will include a roadshow, various performances, panel discussions and an exhibition.

"We are also launching a billboard on internet safety, and Mururani is a gateway to the two Kavango regions. So we would want motorists who are passing through the gate to see the message on safety on digital platforms and especially keeping children safer on the internet."

MICT, in collaboration with other stakeholders, spent four days in Kavango West raising awareness about the importance of radio and internet safety ahead of the official celebrations.

Amagola called on the public to make it to Mururani Combined School in the Mankumpi Constituency for a day filled with knowledge and entertainment.
