The Minister of Justice and Labour Relations, Wise-Immanuel Fillimon, says the Namcor case remains under active investigation by the ACC and has not yet been submitted to the office of the Prosecutor General.

"It must be stressed that the prosecutor general only makes decisions once investigations are complete and all evidence is beforehand. Where an investigative gap exists, dockets are returned for further work, not delayed but strengthened to ensure credible and sustainable prosecution. "

This was in response to the IPC MP, Immanuel Nashinge, who sought clarity on how the matter is currently being dealt with.

The minister added that advocates from the higher court have been assigned to the case to expedite the process.

Immanuel also dismissed unjust speculations that the prosecutor general is aiding corruption.

"The office of the prosecutor general does not act as a political instrument or a shield for wrongdoing. It acts only on evidence. Premature prosecutions based on incompetent evidence would undermine justice, compromise convictions and defeat the very trust we seek to uphold."

The minister further stated that the prosecutor general's office remains steadfast in its constitutional duty as a guardian of justice.
