President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah continues with consultative engagements with political parties.

Today, Dr. Nandi-Ndaitwah met with Affirmative Repositioning, where discussions centred around the economy, effective governance and accountability.

The consultations aim at discussing pertinent matters and collectively tackling challenges facing Namibians.

"This is an engagement which I personally and the whole cabinet find very important," said President Nandi-Ndaitwah, adding that "as you can see, I'm accompanied by the Vice President, the Prime Minister and cabinet ministers here. As elected representatives, we are all leaders, and we have a responsibility to exchange so that we can lead our people in the right direction."

AR Leader Job Amupanda said the political party's main focus is institutional reforms to strengthen economic development to address pressing issues such as land and unemployment.

"We're focusing more on those broader issues so that we can re-engineer the focus of government so that we can support the President. There's no debate there. As far as the ideas, the aspirations and the principles of the President, we are together. There's no debate there. Our concern, and we also inform the President, is how these things are implemented. You see, you can, for instance, have a youth fund. We are excited about it. And then in the implementation, something else happened."

Amupanda commended continued and broader engagement with the President.

"So it was a very good conversation. There is a clear indication that we might need to be doing this more and more in terms of what's supposed to be done. We have also clarified with one another. The President has indicated her views on certain things, and we certainly have also indicated our views to the President on how we think the country must be governed. But this is the beginning where we are going to have more conversation, not only with the President but also with key functionalities of government for us."

So far, the President has held engagements with the Independent Patriots for Change, SWANU, the United Democratic Front and the Popular Democratic Movement.
