The family of Kashanu Iyambo, known as Tuna, is in anguish following the disappearance of their 25-year-old son. Tuna travelled to Windhoek to take up a position at a kapana vendor in Otjomuise but disappeared less than 24 hours after his arrival.
The family is now calling on the Namibian Police to accelerate its investigations to find the missing man.
The family organised a demonstration, with hundreds throwing their support behind them in the hope that the police or those responsible would provide news about their son.
They are adamant that the two men, the one who secured him the job opportunity in Windhoek and the bar owner, should be treated as suspects in his disappearance.
His uncle, Jeremia Shilongo, and mother, Rauha Uugwanga, say their child has never had any mental health issues since birth, as alleged by his employer.
Khomas Regional Crime Investigation Coordinator Fredrik Ndjadila says they are attending to the case daily with no discoveries and that police do not act on suspicion but require links to the case before any arrests.
Deputy Commissioner Ndjadila says the employer's property was thoroughly searched, but nothing linking him to the case was found.
He called on anyone with information related to the case to contact Deputy Commissioner Fredrik Ndjadila on 081 265 2322 anytime.
