The Namibia Defence Force (NDF) has received a state-of-the-art Advanced Network Laboratory at the School of Signals in Okahandja.

The achievement in defence cooperation represents a crucial element of the enduring bilateral relations between Namibia and India.

The lab is designed to enhance technical training for NDF members.

Funded by the Government of India at a cost of N$1 million, the facility focuses on capacity-building and skills development.

India's High Commissioner to Namibia, Rahul Shrivastava, emphasised the importance of training and technological advancement in strengthening defence cooperation.

"Training remains the backbone of our cooperation, with nearly 80 Namibian defence personnel travelling to India each year for various programmes. In this digital age, staying connected and secure is the greatest strength of any modern force.”

The Deputy Minister of International Relations and Trade, Jenelly Matundu, stressed that the partnership continues to contribute to national development.

“Our two nations share a deep historical bond forged in the struggle for independence and strengthened by shared democratic values. Together, we continue to strengthen cooperation in capacity building and technology for a more secure future.”

The Deputy Minister of Defence and Veterans Affairs, Dr Charles Mubita, stated the project was built on solidarity and mutual respect.

“This project does not create dependency; it builds capacity and capability, responding to Namibia's needs. It ensures that the Namibian Defence Force is equipped to meet today's security challenges.”

The NDF Chief, Air Marshal Martin Pinehas, explained that the facility will significantly strengthen training and operational readiness.

“This facility is designed to train our defence personnel in advanced networking technologies, critical in today's security environment. The NDF is stronger today because of this initiative.”

As Namibia continues to modernise its defence capabilities, initiatives such as these highlight the importance of technology, skills transfer and international cooperation in building a capable and future-ready force.
