The Ondangwa Magistrates' Court has denied bail to 33-year-old Thomas Sheya, who allegedly killed two of his children in September last year.

His case was postponed to the 5th of August.

Details surrounding the murders that happened at Onkani Village in the Oshikoto Region remain unclear.
Preliminary investigations, however, revealed that Sheya returned home from Windhoek with his two children.

On that fateful Sunday afternoon, he reportedly took them out, claiming he was escorting them to the gravel road for pickup.

His motives came to light after he sent text messages to family members and the children's mother that he had killed them.

Sheya also informed them that the bodies of four-year-old Ruusa Sheya and two-year-old Andreas Sheya were lying next to the Nameya water point.

The accused initially fled the scene, but handed himself over to the Okatope police.

The family of Maria Muulikwa – the mother of the two children – opposes the granting of bail.
