Members of Parliament from various parties have urged Namibians to educate the youth about the events leading up to and on the fateful day of the Cassinga attack, to honour those who perished and sacrificed their lives for the country's freedom.

Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts, and Culture Dino Ballotti led the call, saying, "I want to urge fellow Namibians to truly take the time to educate our children, our nephews, and our nieces on what exactly transpired. The fight for liberation took many lives."

Swapo Party MP Uahekua Herunga said of the victims: "They were fleeing the country to go and fight to liberate Namibia, to make us free, for us to be able to do what we do now."

IPC MP Nelson Kalangula warned, "This belief is not well taught to those who are to follow in leadership tomorrow. They are bound to repeat it."

Swapo Party MP Dr. Peya Mushelenga broadened the remembrance, saying, "It is not only to commemorate those who passed on on the 4th of May, 1978, in Cassinga, but also to commemorate all those who lost their lives during the course of the liberation struggle for Namibia."

NDP Leader Lukato Lukato reflected, "We lost our children, our mothers, and our parents on that day."

Swapo Party MP Dr. Tobie Aupindi described it as "a really sad day and chapter in the history of Namibia's liberation struggle."

IPC MP Lilian Lutuhezi appealed to young people: "I want to urge our young people there to remember this day and also know their history because they have to know where they come from."

IPC Leader in the National Assembly, Immanuel Nashinge, added that "we need to always remember the gains of independence that were achieved through blood, youthfulness, and other sacrifices in whatever we do."

Swapo Party MP Pohamba Shifeta stressed: "It's vitally important to Namibia and Namibians because we commemorate and also remember the supreme sacrifices of our Namibians, especially women and children who were massacred by these apartheid forces."

IPC MP Vilho Ihemba said, "Now we are politically free, so we should reflect on the intentions of those who perished."

IPC MP Abednego Hishoono concluded, "We must respect and honour the blood of those who sacrificed for this freedom, so that's why we say we must protect this country so that this does not happen again."
