The Top 10 finalists of Miss Namibia are still on their excursion in the Omaheke Region with a visit to Epukiro RC settlement, where they had the opportunity to interact with members of the Batswana ba Namibia community and experience their culture.
The community welcomed the beauty queens with vibrant cultural performances, showcasing traditional songs, dances, and community spirit.
During the visit, community members introduced the finalists to the traditions and customs of the Batswana ba Namibia people, including the significance of their traditional attire.
The women explained that, according to their culture, women are not allowed to leave their shoulders uncovered, as it forms part of their values and respect within the community.
The finalists were also welcomed into the traditional court, where cultural practices were demonstrated. Women were seated on cowhides on the ground, while men sat on wooden logs used as chairs, giving the contestants a firsthand experience of the community’s traditional way of life.
Community elders further highlighted the importance of agriculture within the Batswana ba Namibia community, reminding the finalists of the role farming continues to play in sustaining families and preserving culture.
Many of the contestants expressed excitement and admiration during the visit, saying they were fascinated to learn about traditions and practices they had never experienced before.
They described the encounter as a beautiful reminder of Namibia’s cultural diversity and unity.
