Namibian football club African Stars hosted an awards ceremony at the Hilton Hotel last Saturday to honor player performances following a successful season.

African Stars celebrated their 2026 Namibia Premier Football League season with a gala event over the weekend. Founded in 1952, the club has grown over the decades into a top team, finishing their latest run as league champions.

The ceremony recognized hard work, dedication, and commitment, with several key players walking away with awards. Bolly Tjitemisa shared his excitement after being voted by his peers as the team player of the year.“Winning the Player's Player of the Year award is an incredible feeling. Being recognized by your own teammates is the highest honor you can get, and it motivates me to push even harder next season,” Tjitemisa said.

The theme of dedication and commitment was echoed by Okeri Nguarambuka, who took home the Most Improved Player award after a strong season.“Dedication and commitment cannot be achieved without hard work throughout the entire year. I'm just incredibly happy that all those extra hours on the training pitch finally paid off tonight,” Nguarambuka said.

African Stars Chairperson Salomo Hei praised the team for its consistency and winning run in recent years.“It's the African Stars formidable awards—formidable in terms of the team that we have built over the past four years that has achieved this unprecedented success of winning four league titles consecutively. We're here to honor them, say thank you, and give our gratitude for the commitment they've given to our club,” Hei said.

Management hopes these annual awards will continue to inspire the players and keep the team performing well on the pitch next season.
