Bringing digital learning to improve the performance of learners, B2 Gold Namibia, in partnership with EduVision, has set up a smart classroom at Coblenz Combined School in Okakarara Constituency.

Handing over the classroom, B2 Gold Namibia Managing Director John Roos and the company invested close to N$300.000 for the state-of-the-art digital learning tools and online access smart board.

Roos says the smart classroom investment enables learners with opportunities to conduct research, participate in interactive lessons, and access virtual learning platforms, bringing them on par with learners in more technologically advanced schools.

"We want to see returns; we want to see your marks improve. That is your responsibility, ok, from our investments. When we come back here in a year or two's time and we see the learners that I'm looking at today, we want to see a real difference. We want to know that the N$250 or N$300.000 we invested here today has resulted in something much bigger, and we want to make sure that you look after the assets and that you use them efficiently."

EduVision Director Frikkie Louw says the donation of the smart board was necessitated by the digital gap that affected quality education in remote areas.

"In 2018, Eduvision began with a simple but bold vision to use technology to bridge the educational gap between urban and rural Namibia. That was a dream built on hope, a dream built on partnership, and a dream built on the belief that education remains the greatest investment."

Coblenz Combined School Principal Uazuvara Kuzatjike and school board member Rapupara Tjipira welcomed the donation.

"We are appreciating the gesture that the B2 Gold and the EduVision have really extended to us as a school. At least we are progressing in the right direction through the push from the two standing-out companies."

To date, B2 Gold Namibia has rolled out 20 smart classrooms across Namibia.
