Namibia's Israel Dowie has won his third International Tennis Federation title of the year after claiming the J60 Junior tournament in Kigali, Rwanda, adding to his results on the international junior tennis circuit.

Fifteen-year-old Israel Dowie has won the ITF J60 junior tournament in Kigali, Rwanda.

The victory is Dowie's third ITF title this year, following his performances in Windhoek and Pretoria.

Dowie has competed in both singles and doubles this year, earning ranking points and gaining experience against players from different countries.

“I think Kigali was one of my best tournaments this year, especially because it was my first ITF Junior tournament on clay. The conditions were also quite difficult because of the altitude. The ball was bouncing high and moving fast, but you still have to move and slide like you normally would on clay. I had to adjust quickly, and I think I did that really well. Every tournament has been different. Windhoek was the breakthrough, Pretoria gave me confidence that I could do it again, and Kigali showed me that I can adapt to different surfaces and conditions and still find a way to win.”

Dowie's results have come through regular competition at ITF level, where he faces different playing styles, court conditions and players from across the continent.

He said the Kigali title has also highlighted areas of his game that still need improvement as he works towards higher levels of junior tennis and the senior circuit.

“There are still many parts of my game that I can improve. I want to become physically stronger, keep improving my movement, serve and return, and become more consistent when playing against higher-level players.”

The title gives Dowie more ranking points and match experience as he prepares for further tournaments on the junior circuit.

With more competitions ahead, Dowie will now look to build on his results in Windhoek, Pretoria and Kigali as he continues his development in international tennis.
