PDM's leader, McHenry Venaani, questioned the prime minister why the government had appointed a committee to review salaries of government officials and retracted the decision to have the committee two weeks later.

"Explain to this country how your government at one interval appoints a commission that needs to review salaries of CEOs at state-owned enterprises, appoints and nominates the chairman, vice-chair and other members, and a fortnight later this body is defunct."

Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare encouraged MPs not to be carriers of rumours but rather to engage with his office prior to bringing these matters to the house.

"I think what is important is that as parliament we must not be carriers of rumours, and just because somebody says this to you, you take it as fact. You are closer to me; you call me; you can have tea or anything for you to validate. Yes, I mean, yes, I mean, you don't have to build on whatever you hear and magnify it to make it a fact."
