The Namibia National Students Organisation (NANSO) has adopted several instruments to confront issues affecting its members through coordinated advocacy and strategies.

These were adopted at a recent 19th congress.

Speaking on the outcomes of the congress, its president, Secilia Ambunda, stated that the gathering moved from just deliberations to action, setting clear positions, concrete demands and practical interventions on the issues affecting learners, students and trainees.

"This congress has demonstrated that NANSO remains a school of leadership not merely by electing leaders but by confronting the challenges before us and committing itself to the solutions our generation demands."

She called on NANSO to move beyond elections and deliver concrete solutions.

"We seek a Namibia where education translates into opportunity, where innovation translates into enterprise, where skills translate into work and where the energy of our youth is not wasted in the waiting rooms but harnessed in building our nation. As the new leadership, we honour those who fought before us by refusing to stand still. The task before this generation is no longer merely to open the doors of opportunity but to ensure that every young Namibian has a future waiting on the other side of their formative years."

The congress adopted resolutions calling for an urgent construction of student villages nationwide, the realisation of the Rent Control Bill, and timely and transparent disbursement of student funding.

Others include the modernisation of TVET institutions, stronger school safety and by-laws, curriculum alignment with oil, gas and green hydrogen industries, compulsory civic education, free counselling in schools, and government funding for recognised student organisations.

NANSO's new leadership also launched an Institutional Strategic Plan that will translate the congress mandate into focused and measurable action.
