Dr Romanus Kampungu Football Club's girls are stepping up their preparations for the new season through competitive match action, recently hosting Grootfontein Girls Football Club in a pre-season friendly in Rundu.

The match gave the young players an opportunity to test their skills, build match fitness, and identify areas for improvement ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Established in 2023 to empower girls through sport, the club currently competes in the NFA Kavango East Women's Football League while participating in various local, circuit, and regional competitions to foster talent, discipline, and confidence.

Dr Romanus Kampungu head coach Gabriel Kasanga expressed satisfaction with the team's efforts, noting that players maintained high spirits throughout pre-season despite minor disruptions when hostel-based players were released to visit family over the weekend.

The friendly offered a valuable test against strong opposition, with Grootfontein Girls Football Club securing a 3-0 victory.

Despite the setback, team captain Annastasia Makushe highlighted the squad's positive outlook, stating that the performance reflected strong effort and that the result will serve as motivation to sharpen their game for future fixtures.

The Rundu-based side now returns to training to rectify their shortcomings as they continue building momentum toward the new season.
