The Zambezi Region is the host of the 2027 Miss Namibia and Miss Teen Namibia pageants.
The announcement was made at Katima Mulilo, which will host the prestigious event.
Accepting the hosting responsibilities, Zambezi Governor Dorothy Kabula highlighted the significance of bringing an event of this magnitude to the region.
Kabula said Zambezi's rich cultural heritage and strategic location position it well to host an event that can exceed expectations.
"The Zambezi region is particularly proud to host this national event. Our region occupies a unique position as Namibia's gateway to Zambia, Botswana, and Zimbabwe, including Angola, blessing us in the art of the Kavango-Zambezi tourism landscape. This strategic location is combined with our natural beauty and cultural diversity that makes the Zambezi region a fitting destination for an event of this nature."
She said the pageant is also expected to create opportunities for tourism, local businesses, artists and creatives, allowing them to benefit from the increased visibility and economic activity associated with the event.
Omaheke Region hosted the 2026 pageant, which its governor, Pijoo Nganate, said provided economic opportunities for local businesses and communities.
"The region received coverage through NBC and other media platforms. Gobabis and the wider Omaheke region were seen by people across Namibia and across the world. Our people were able to showcase their businesses, their communities, their culture, and their way of life. The type of exposure is important; as regional leaders, we must make sure that when national events come to our region."
Botswana also played an important role through its involvement and support of the pageant.
He encouraged the Zambezi leadership to leverage its relationships with neighbouring countries to strengthen regional cooperation and maximise the benefits of hosting the pageant.
Speaking on behalf of the NBC Board Chairperson was Vice Chairperson Oaitse Van Staden.
"As we prepare for this event in 2027, we will not only showcase, like I said, the contestants, but we will offer and we will showcase what the Zambezi region itself can offer, and also, the people, the culture, and the heritage will bring those stories forward so that we can show the Namibian nation, even SADC, what treasure this region carries."
