The Namibian Police Force will deploy 20 officers to identified road accident hotspots and 30 vehicles nationwide as part of its preparations for the 2026/2027 festive season road safety campaign.
Acting Inspector General of Police, Major General Anne-Marie Nainda, announced the deployment during a consultative meeting hosted by the Traffic Law Enforcement Directorate to prepare for the campaign.
Nainda said the festive season is a critical period for road safety as increased traffic volumes raise the risk of road crashes, adding that NamPol would work with stakeholders to strengthen traffic law enforcement and improve road safety during the period, which will run from 16 November 2026 to 17 January 2027.
During the 2025/2026 festive season road safety campaign, Namibia recorded 470 road crashes, leaving 932 people injured and 92 dead.
