The Ministry of Sport, Youth, and National Service has appointed five interim board members for the National Youth Council following the removal of the previous one last week.

The interim board members are Curtis M. Andrew, Beverly Silas, Hendrik Theofilus, Victoria Itta, and Nghoshi Panduleni.

Community members at Uis are dismayed about the alleged destruction of ancestral graves by Xinfeng Investments' mining activities.

The mine operates a few kilometres outside Uis, under the Daure Daman Traditional Authority in the Erongo Region.

A tug of war over the control of the National Youth Council (NYC) continues as both the Minister of Sport, Youth, and National Service and delegates to the General Assembly underway in Rietfontein, Otjozondjupa Region, appointed interim boards.

Delegates to the General Assembly in Rietfontein also appointed an interim board, vowing to maintain their position in the ongoing struggle for control of the National Youth Council (NYC).

Delegates say they will rally behind their elected interim board, which was elected on Sunday.
