China has pledged to provide food aid to Namibia worth N$27 million.

This was announced by Tang Wenhong, the Vice Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), during a courtesy call on President Hage Geingob.

The Minister of Agriculture, Water, and Land Reform, Carl Schlettwein, says Namibia continues to make strides in the provision of clean drinking water, both in urban and rural areas.

These efforts are, however, impeded by damage to infrastructure.

The Deputy Minister of Urban and Rural Development, Evelyn Nawases-Taeyele, has directed local authorities to clean up their acts of poor service delivery and governance, as well as disregard for laws.
