The Keetmanshoop Meteorological Office is set to undergo infrastructure upgrades to improve weather forecasting and climate monitoring capabilities in the region. 

Charred remains at the Komsberg farm location are the only reminders of where reed houses stood that were reduced to ashes by a devastating fire early this month. 

Reed house fires are the recurring tragedy at the farm, with several fire incidents reported in the past few months. 

Komsberg Farm, trading as Socotra Island Investment (PTY), aims to secure a significant share of the international market share as a leading fruit exporter. 

The Minister of Industries, Mines and  Energy (MIME), Modestus Amutse has expressed concerns over shortage of skilled  workers in both the mining and energy sectors. 

This, the minister asserted, could hinder the government's efforts to maximum  value for the country. 

The Minister of Industries, Mines and Energy, Modestus Amutse, has reminded Naute Irrigation Farm management to run the operation profitably and make a meaningful contribution to the country’s GDP. 

He made the call during his visit to the farm as part of his familiarisation visit to ||Kharas Region. 

The government has allocated N$12 million towards the electrification of peri-urban households in the ||Kharas and Hardap regions.

The Keetmanshoop Regional Court has sentenced 24-year-old Flora Van Kent to 10 years’ imprisonment for stabbing to death a nineteen-month old baby.
 
Van Kent, a mother of two, inflicted two stab wounds to the baby girl, causing her death.
