Eleven Executive Committee members of the Namibia National Commission for UNESCO have been appointed following consultations and formal endorsement by Cabinet. The members are expected to enhance the mandate of the commission by communicating and implementing its programmes and activities effectively.

The Ministry of Health and Social Services (MoHSS) says it has not signed up for any health treaty, an instrument that if ratified can be used to strengthen pandemic prevention and preparedness.

The South African army has deployed 10,000 troops to help the nation's east coast recover from storms that have claimed 443 lives and ravaged infrastructure. Some of the troops include plumbers and electricians to help restore power and water, which have been cut off in some areas for a week.
