Water scarcity continues to be a challenge in some parts of the Erongo Region, and Governor Neville Andre has urged the Orano Erongo Desalination Plant to work shoulder-to-shoulder with the government to help fight the water crisis in rural areas of the region.

 

Namibians urged to register their work

The Minister of Justice has urged Namibians to register their work, including trademarks, patents and copyrights - to protect these from counterfeits.

Yvonne Dausab made this call during a three-day meeting of the Judges Colloquium on Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights in Africa at Swakopmund. 

Employers urged to review employees' wages annually

The Deputy Minister of Labour, Industrialization, and Employment Creation, Hafeni Ndemula, has urged all employers to review workers' wages annually.

Ndemula, who was speaking at the commencement of Labour Day in Swakopmund, pointed out that some employers are still paying workers below the minimum wage.

Third annual Sanlam marathon held at Swakopmund

The 2023 Sanlam Coastal Marathon features four race categories namely,  a five-kilometre run/walk, 10km, 21km half marathon and a full marathon.

The event is recognized as a qualifier run for two of the elite marathons in Africa, the Sanlam Cape Town marathon and the Comrades.

Swakopmund hosts 2023 Cross country Olympic National Championships

This year's edition of the Nedbank Cross Country Olympic Namibian National Championships race took place over the Easter weekend at Swakopmund.

The hosting of the national mountain bike race at the town was aimed at widening the footprint of cycling in Namibia.
